High-load PKS pipe systems for surface water drainage at Frankfurt Airport's new Apron South, designed for demanding airport infrastructure conditions.
FRANK pipe systems were used for underground surface water drainage at Frankfurt Airport's new Apron South, connected to the Terminal 3 development and aircraft parking positions. The project required a technically reliable drainage solution for demanding airport infrastructure and high external loads.
The PKS / PKS-plus pipe system was accepted as a technical alternative because of its welded system design, integrated electrofusion socket handling, lower weight, and larger internal diameter. Static calculations considered aircraft load cases including large aircraft such as A380-800 and A340-600.
For airport drainage projects, welded PE pipe systems can support long-term reliability where high external loads, tight installation requirements, and durable surface-water management are critical.
